Styrene-butadiene rubber is a copolymer of butadiene and styrene. Elastic properties of vulcanized styrene-butadiene are not worse than the elastic properties of natural rubber vulcanizates. SBR vulcanizates, however, show a higher resistance against: ozone, weathering, heat, are also they are resistant to abrasion. SBR is used mainly for the production of car tires, shoe soles and products exposed to abrasion.
Operating temperature range is from -50°C to +100°C.
Styrene-butadiene vulcanizates are resistant to:
- organic and inorganic acids
- principles
- alcohols and water
- brake fluids based on glycols
SBR vulcanizates are not resistant to:
- mineral oils and greases, and gasoline
- aliphatic and aromatic, chlorinated hydrocarbons,
